The impacts of cocoa sustainability initiatives in West Africa

This article, published in the journal Sustainability, explores the social, economic and environmental effects of voluntary sustainability standards and corporate initiatives implemented by public-private-civil society partnerships in cocoa value chains. Its finding suggests effects are mixed and modest, stressing the need for sectoral transformation, continued partnerships and further policy changes to fully address the issues facing the cocoa sector.
