ICI as a foundation, believes in putting children first. This is the very focus of the work we do. Buying into the theme for this year’s marking of the AU Day of the African Child (DAC), “Leave No Child Behind for Africa’s Development”, we partnered with the Department of Children and other key stakeholders from New Juabeng Municipality in Eastern region to carry out a Children’s Forum in Asikasu.
The main purpose for this activity was to raise awareness on the continuing need for parents to prioritise the education of their children and for stakeholders to work towards the improvement of the quality of education for children in cocoa growing communities.

The activity saw the participation of parents and community leaders from Asikasu and eight other communities, with representatives from Department of Children, Ghana Education Service, COCOBOD, National Commission on Civic Education, and other key stakeholders within the New Juabeng North municipality. The Manager of Mondelez Cocoa Life was also present.

Child Protection Club (CPC) members led the activities with recitals, role playing, dance and drama. A quiz competition was also held among seven of the clubs to test their knowledge on child protection.
