Top chocolate players see 'business case' for quality education in cocoa communities

Nine major cocoa and chocolate companies have committed $8.5m to an initiative aiming to prove a business case to improve the quality of education in Ivorian cocoa communities. Under the ‘Transforming Education in Cocoa Communities’ (TRECC) program coordinated by the Jacob’s Foundation, Nestlé, Hershey, Mars, Mondelez International, Barry Callebaut, Blommer, Caboz, Cargill and Cémoi are aiming to overturn low numeracy and literacy rates in Ivorian cocoa communities.

The International Cocoa Initiative is implementing TRECC for two of its member companies, Nestlé and Cargill.
