The International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) has supported the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) to hold a quiz competition. This competition ushers in the series of activities which are being held in Ghana to mark the 2019 World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) under the national theme ”Consolidating efforts, Children must work on dreams not in fields.”
This competition was organised at Effiduase Adventist Church Hall in the Sekyere East District of Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders.

Eight children came from Junior High Schools (JHS) in four cocoa growing communities; Senchi, Nkwankwanua, Ntunkumso and Ahensan; who qualified for the finals from the zonal competition which was held last week. The competition gave the children an opportunity to show their knowledge in child labour and child protection issues.

The quiz is part of the efforts being made in Ghana to include children in activities held to commemorate the World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL).

After a very competitive three rounds, where the participants were asked to explain many child labour and child protection concepts and terminologies, Ntunkumso JHS carried the day with 61 points. The school will be awarded tomorrow during the national WDACL commemoration activity.
