The school as a bulwark against child labour
In Ivory Coast, the cocoa sector accounts for nearly 40% of the country’s export earnings, a key sector that provides work for millions of Ivorians many of whom are children. To fight against child labour, the Ivorian authorities, with support from the International Cocoa Foundation and the Nestlé Initiative, promise to get nearly 320 000 children out of plantations by 2017 through the construction of rural schools.
