Olam launches 2020 annual report

Collaboration with District Authorities (Ghana)

Olam, a partner and board member of the International Cocoa Initiative, has launched its 2020 annual report highlighting progress tackling child labour and other issues in its supply chain. This comes in tandem with an announcement that Olam’s Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System covers 183,000 households across nine countries under its Cocoa Compass programme. This is a positive step towards addressing and preventing child labour where it exists in Olam’s supply chain.

Key results, according to Olam’s report:

• Achievement of 100% traceability of the company’s directly sourced cocoa
• 40,000 children have benefited from child protection interventions
• 208,000 farmers received child labour and human rights training across a variety of commodities and locations
• Launch of a study with Save the Children to understand the effectiveness of Olam’s actions against child labour in its supply chain

At ICI we are pleased to see Olam’s continued commitment to address child labour bringing positive benefits.
