In this study, the Center for Evaluation evaluates Fairtrade’s contribution to poverty reduction through rural development. It evaluates cocoa, coffee, cotton flower, tea and bananas as a follow up to a similar evaluation carried out in 2011/12.
The impact of Fairtrade Cocoa is evaluated in Ghana. Overall findings were a heightened awareness of child labour among Fairtrade farmers and generally higher incomes compared to non-Fairtrade farmers.
The report was commissioned by Fairtrade Germany, the Max Havelaar Switzerland Foundation, Fairtrade Austra and the Swiss State Secretary of Economic Affairs.
