Researchers from Tulane University conducted a study to assess the prevalence of, and measure changes in, estimates of children working in child labour, and in the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) in the production of cocoa in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana. The Final Report of this study compares data collected from 2008/9 and 2013/4. It points to certain marked improvements yet stresses that the Harkin-Engel Protocol’s goal of a major reduction in the number of children in hazardous child labour in the cocoa sector has not come within reach.
