This report argues a deeper understanding of the composition, condition and source of rural household incomes is needed to reduce global poverty. Using Ghanaian cocoa growing households as a case study, the report stresses that the income debate should be enlarged by including discussions on whether farmers earn sufficient income and whether they earn their fair share of the value chain and its final product.
