Pokua is a cocoa farmer from Ghana. Her family struggled to pay their children’s education bills. So the International Cocoa Initiative supported her by providing what she needed to start growing pepper. With the income from her new crop, Pokua was able to pay her children’s school fees and invest in a small business selling clothes in her community. She is now thriving and hopes to open her own shop. Learn her story in this short video.
Pokua was supported to start her Income Generating Activity through ICI’s Community Development Programme which worked with 75 cocoa-growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana to empower them and increase child protection.
