Mondelēz International, a board member of the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI), has published its latest Snacking Made Right report, sharing its results and progress made towards achieving a sustainable cocoa supply chain. The report explores Mondelēz’s actions as part of its Cocoa Life programme to empower cocoa communities and tackle child labour through Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems.

Key updates from the Snacking Made Right report include:

  • 28% coverage of West African sourcing communities through Mondelēz’s Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems, reaching more than 620,000 people from 125,000 households.
  • 1,959 Community Action Plans set up to empower cocoa-growing communities to play an active role in development. 70% of those in Ghana are backed by local government, according to the report.
  • 3,205 Village Savings and Loans Associations are operational in communities.
  • Ongoing pilot project with ICI to address the risk of forced labour.

At ICI, we are encouraged to see Mondelēz’s continued commitment to address child labour and empower cocoa farmers and their families in its supply chain. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Mondelēz as they scale up.
