The Jacobs Foundation is one of the world’s leading charitable foundations dedicated to facilitating innovation for children and young people. The Foundation was created in 1989 by Klaus J. Jacobs and his family to help future generations by providing young people with better development opportunities. The Jacobs Foundation supports research and intervention of the highest quality, leading to important and vital results for children and young people around the world. The foundation promotes public dialogue by connecting people from science, politics, society and the economy, creating platforms for discussion and raising awareness of the needs and opportunities to improve the lives of future generations.
As an active international organisation, the Jacobs Foundation aims to contribute to the development of current and future generations of young people in order to enable them to become socially responsible members of society. The Jacobs Foundation is committed to recognizing and strengthening the individual potential of children and young people and to developing and developing their professional skills. The objectives of the Jacobs Foundation are to promote innovation in research and practice and to combine scientific results with practical applications. In this regard, it is important to us that programs are evidence-based and achieve sustainable results. The foundation also wants to encourage public dialogue and create networks to bring about social change in the field of child and youth development.
ICI and the Jacobs Foundation have been working together since 2014, collaborating on research on child labour and the deployment of good practices in quality formal and non-formal education. ICI is an implementing partner of TRECC (Transforming Education in Cocoa Communities), a CHF 60 million initiative of the Jacobs Foundation. With co-financing from TRECC, Nestlé and Cargill, ICI is setting up bridging classes and vocational training for young people, as well as income-generating activities for women in Côte d’Ivoire. The Jacobs Foundation joined ICI as a non-profit contributing partner in 2018.
