The Eliminating Child Labor in Cocoa (ECLIC) ran from 2015 to 2019 and directly supported 9,509 children in 50 cocoa-growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire. The project used a combination of child labour prevention and remediation activities to support farming households. These activities included awareness raising, training in alternative income generating activities, literacy and numeracy classes for adults, and the provision of quality education for children. Over the project’s course child labour within supported households decreased by 37%.

In this external evaluation, the results of ECLIC are presented alongside the key learnings from the project.

ECLIC was supported by the United States Department of Labor.
