To advance its supply chain transparency and traceability, Barry Callebaut, a partner and board member of the International Cocoa Initiative, published details of its direct cocoa suppliers from Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Cameroon. The online map shows the geographical location of cooperatives and districts from each country that supply the company with its cocoa. The map also includes the number of farmers involved.
Combined with other data, such as farm sizes and the size and composition of farmer households, the geographical information is a positive example of how data collection can advance sustainability, allowing support to be targeted within the supply chain. ICI supports Barry Callebaut’s drive for a traceable and transparent supply chain.
ICI and Barry Callebaut work together closely, through the company’s Forever Chocolate programme, to support cocoa farmers and their families, with the objective of improving child protection in cocoa-growing communities.
