To date, landscape approaches have not been commonly used to address social issues like child labour in cocoa but may have the potential to help overcome common challenges and accelerate progress. To better understand this potential, this study aimed to identify examples of landscape approaches that sought to tackle child labour.
It analyses six landscape approaches in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Uganda to assess their effectiveness at preventing and addressing child labour. The study describes their design, set-up and results, and identifies common challenges and promising practices. Drawing on the case studies examined, the study also provides recommendations that are relevant to the design and setup of future programmes at landscape scale.
This study was launched at a public webinar. You may watch the recording of the launch webinar for an overview of the report findings and a panel discussion of its implications for stakeholders working on child labour in the cocoa sector and beyond.
