This qualitative study, commissioned by ICI and conducted by Ipsos Limited-Ghana, evaluates the implementation and impact of community-based grievance mechanisms set up by ICI in 89 cocoa-growing communities in Ghana.

Grievance mechanisms allow individuals to raise complaints about actions that may have impacted their human rights or labour rights. Community-based grievance mechanisms in cocoa-growing communities can be put in place through community-level structures that work to resolve disputes between cocoa farm owners and their workers, investigate allegations of abuse, provide solutions for those affected, and ultimately prevent further harm.

The report presents the impact of the pilot community-based grievance mechanisms and identifies recommendations to enhance these mechanisms and mitigate labour rights violations in the cocoa supply chain.
